Floods bring desert nation nearly to halt

By Agence France-Presse in Doha | China Daily | Updated: 2015-11-27 07:54

Heavy flooding in Qatar on Wednesday caused gridlock on the country's roads as well as closures of schools and the US embassy.

Overnight rain made many roads nearly impassable for commuters.

Reports on social media said that Doha's Hamad International Airport was affected, due to leaks at the estimated $17 billion facility, which opened last year.
