Foreign minister details plans for Xi's Africa visit

China views relations as its diplomatic 'foundation of foundations' and sees summit a 'milestone'

Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China views relations with African countries as its "foundation of foundations" in foreign diplomacy.

Wang made the remark on Thursday at the 15th Lanting Forum, ahead of President Xi Jinping's two-day trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, starting next Friday to co-host with South Africa's President Jacob Zuma the first China-Africa cooperation summit to be held in Africa.
