Item from Nov 25, 1985, in China Daily: Workers at the Harbin Aircraft Plant assemble Y-12 multipurpose planes, which are designed for industrial and agricultural use, oil prospecting and short-to-medium distance transport.

The Y-12 is a high wing, twin-engine turboprop utility aircraft, manufactured by Harbin Aircraft Industry Group Co, a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China. It has a lifting capacity of about 1,800 kilograms and a maximum designed speed of 328 kilometers per hour.

Since its rollout in the 1980s, China's Y-12 aircraft has been exported to more than 20 countries and regions in Africa, Asia and Latin America, Xinhua News Agency reported.
