A new pilot initiative has been launched to provide free mobile Internet access to 1,000 schools in inland remote mountainous areas of Hunan province. DreamKey is being organized by Shanghai Lantern Network Technology Co Ltd and the Free Lunch for Children charity. Its first pilot project will be held in Xinhuang Dong autonomous county. A spokesman for the program said its aim is to bring children from remote areas closer to their peers in other areas of China, using mobile Internet. Shanghai Lantern has created an initial fund of 2 million yuan ($314,000) for the program.
