President returns from exile, days after loyalists launch attack

By Agence France-Presse in Aden, Yemen | China Daily | Updated: 2015-11-18 07:50

Yemen's president returned to the nation's second city Aden from Saudi exile on Tuesday, a day after his loyalists launched a new offensive against Iran-backed rebels with the support of Saudi-led troops.

After landing in the provisional capital, Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi went straight to the palace to "supervise" the offensive aimed at retaking rebel-controlled Taez province, a presidential source said.

Hadi's return comes just days after Prime Minister Khaled Bahah announced the return of his government to Aden. The president has tried to return before.
