China, NZ to build medical research unit
China and New Zealand signed an agreement on Monday to build the Joint Center for Biomedicine in New Zealand's biggest city Auckland. The center will seek new treatments for diseases like cancer. The Maurice Wilkins Center for Molecular Biodiscovery, hosted by the University of Auckland, and the Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health, will collaborate to set up the center, which is expected to generate significant medical and economic benefits for both countries.
