Junior NBA league nurturing hoops hopes

NBA China, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports announced on Monday the launch of the first Junior NBA Basketball League in China.

The announcement was made at a media conference in Beijing attended by NBA China CEO David Shoemaker, Wang Dingdong, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Chen Jie, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports.

The school-based Junior NBA Basketball League for students aged 16-18 tips off on Nov 24 in Beijing and will feature 30 boys teams and 18 girls sides, each representing one of the 30 NBA teams.
