Major South Korea-Japan bilateral summit

South Korean President Park Geun-hye and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are scheduled to hold their first bilateral summit today in Seoul, on the sidelines of a trilateral summit with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Relations between Japan and South Korea have been clouded by sensitive historical issues, such as the one over "comfort women". The women were forced into sexual slavery for militarist Japan's wartime brothels during its colonization of the Korean Peninsula from 1910 to 1945.
