After an IBM-designed super computer named Deep Blue defeated world chess champion Garry Kasparov in 1997, the debate over whether artificial intelligence had evolved beyond that of humans reached fever pitch.
The upcoming Mylin Valley World Computer Go Tournament presents the latest opportunity for a computer to "prove" it is smarter than the humans who wrote its program.
Hosted by Beijing Gongti Wangyu Cyber Game Cafe from Nov 10-15, the event will capture the attention of Go chess (weiqi) enthusiasts across the globe as some of the world's best programs square off to determine which one will take on a human.
