2019 Intl Horticultural Expo debuts at MIF
The International Horticultural Expo 2019 Beijing is making its debut at the annual Macao International Trade and Investment Fair on Friday.
"The 2019 World Horticultural Expo will better strengthen economic and trade cooperation while deepening mutual understanding between the Chinese capital and the Macao Special Administrative Region," said Ye Dahua, deputy head of the 2019 World Horticultural Expo's coordination bureau.
The 162-day event that will be held from April 29 to Oct 7 in the capital's Yanqing county will provide commercial and business opportunities for gardening enterprises and high-tech enterprises from Macao, while providing locals a new place for leisure activities, he said.
The International Horticultural Expo 2019 Beijing planned an exhibition exclusively for Macao, to better present the distinctive garden culture of the region, according to the bureau.
Huang Youli, head of the civil affairs administration management committee in the Macao Special Administrative Region, said he was looking forward to the expo after a visit from Ye to discuss details of the expo's ability to attract investments.
The international horticultural show is another event of high standard and scale after the World Expo in Shanghai held in 2010. The six-month event is expected to attract more than 100 countries and regions and 100 domestic governments and enterprises, with more than 16 million visits expected.
Working with agricultural institutes and universities in Beijing, the host district of Yanqing is a 50-minute drive from Beijing Capital International Airport, allowing close contact with academics and logistics centers.
Hosting the 2019 exhibition will help raise the awareness of protecting the environment and harmonious development between humanity and nature, while deepening understanding between China and the rest of the world, as well as among different countries, according to the committee.
Held in the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel from Thursday through Sunday, this year's MIF takes advantage of Macao's unique Eastern and Western cultures, to play the role of a regional business platform for exhibitors worldwide to showcase their products, services and technology.
