Basketball legend offers helping hand to students

Yu Kailu, a student at a middle school in Hebei province in northern China, had never been to Shanghai before this month.

But all that changed thanks to the Wings Scholarship program, and he also got the chance to meet one of his sporting idols - the United States basketball player Michael Jordan.

The sporting legend was in Shanghai to launch the program on October 13, representing his own the Jordan Brand, which is co-organizing the initiative in China in partnership with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation.
