Handwriting valued at strict high school

By Zhang Yu and Xue Chaohua in Hengshui, Hebei | China Daily | Updated: 2015-10-21 07:47

Beautiful handwriting is still valued in the Internet age, when many people have gradually lost the ability to write calligraphy, Li Jinghua, an English teacher from a Chinese high school, said in response to a recent debate over photos of extremely neat handwriting by the school's students.

"Nowadays, people are used to typing. There's little chance for handwriting, and as a result they forget how to write English words or Chinese characters without looking them up on an electronic tool," said Li from Hengshui High School in Hebei province.

"As preparation for their lifelong education, we must nurture a good habit of writing for students at school," Li said.
