US rejects possible cooperation with Russia on curbing IS
US Defense Secretary Ash Carter said on Tuesday that the United States would not cooperate with Russia in the fight against the extremist Islamic State group.
"We (the Pentagon) are not able to associate more broadly with Russia's approach in Syria, because it is wrongheaded and strategically shortsighted," Carter said at a news conference in Boston.
Russia began airstrikes in Syria on Sept 30 after weeks of military buildup inside Syria, which was scrambling to deal with a civil war and the insurgency of the IS.
