Jams signal need to move forward faster

China Daily | Updated: 2015-10-09 07:40

TRAFFIC JAMS brought expressways across the country to a halt during the National Day holidays, but holidaymakers expected them and came prepared with enough snacks, drinks and entertainments to kill time. Comments:

The State Council, China's Cabinet, has introduced measures aimed at optimizing public holiday arrangements, for example, further implementing paid leave. However, holidays could become more human-oriented still if the family as a whole is taken into consideration. A detailed system could be possible and practicable for all family members to take paid leave together at a time of their choosing. Such a system should not only become the consensus of the whole of society, but also be protected by law, so as to relieve the stress and difficulties caused by the whole country all traveling at the same times.
