A charity fundraising dinner in Beijing last month raised 7.09 million yuan ($1.1 million) to help Chinese medical teams that battled the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

Up to 14 pieces of calligraphy and art works were auctioned by the South South International Charity Fund and Chengmei Charity Foundation, which was established in 2010 in Hainan province.

The event attracted more than 200 guests, including international dignitaries and business leaders.
