Police accuse gang of prostitution fraud

Police detained seven suspected members of a ring to defraud people by pretending to offer prostitution services in Nanjing. When victims called the telephone numbers listed on fliers distributed by the gang, they were asked by female telephone operators posing as prostitutes to pay in advance via bank transfer. Victims could not get through by phone after sending the money. The suspected ringleader asked his wife and mother-in-law to pose as prostitutes and make phone calls, police said.
