Open now closed to Chinese women
After grabbing a 5-3 lead in the opening set, Wang Qiang plummeted to a 10-game losing skid, bowing out to former world No 1 Caroline Wozniacki 7-5, 6-0 in the second round of the China Open on Tuesday.
Wang's exit meant Chinese women lost the chance to move on, as Han Xinyun, Zhang Shuai and Zheng Saisai had already crashed out in the first round.
It was Wang's second main draw appearance in Beijing since 2012. She advanced by beating Varvara Lepchenko in first round for her third win over a top-100 opponent.
