Scenarios test forces' joint efficiency

The offshore joint drill included a combined search and rescue operation to recapture a "hijacked" ship, a search-and-rescue mission to locate a "shipwreck", and target practice.

The exercise involved a combination of all land, sea and air components and employed a combined force of more than 2,200 personnel.

The Chinese operation consisted of 1,160 officers and other ranks, two frigates, one hospital ship, four transport aircraft and three shipboard helicopters.
