Forestry leader finds strength in small places

The village was surrounded by the Gobi desert, Jiang Zehui remembers. No one seemed well off. It was very arid.

"But we could see residents enjoying their lives on our visit," says the scientist and longtime State forestry official. "We saw grapevines, and we sampled local food and drink. We enjoyed our lunch in the village very much."
