Peng Liyuan and Michelle Obama will visit the Smithsonian's National Zoo to see a panda cub before the state dinner at the White House on Friday.

According to a White House statement, the visit aims to "commemorate over four decades of scientific collaboration between the United States and China around giant panda conservation". The two women also plan to make "a special announcement" there.
