China Daily | Updated: 2015-09-21 07:59

Item from China Daily on Sept 21, 1984: A new overpass was opened to traffic in northeast Beijing yesterday. The three overhead roads occupy more than 350,000 square meters and form the largest complex of its kind in China. Construction started only 10 months ago.

The cloverleaf shaped overpass Sanyuanqiao in Beijing, one of the country's largest overpasses upon its completion on Sept 21 1984, remains one of the city's busiest traffic hubs today.

On the northeast section of the Third Ring Road, Sanyuanqiao links the city to the airport.
