Lost package arrives after 40 years

By Xinhua in Melbourne, Australia | China Daily | Updated: 2015-09-19 08:03

Australia's postage service is often referred to as "snail mail" due to its less-than speedy service - a reputation that seems deserved after a parcel reached its destination 40 years late on Friday.

News Corp reported that a Melbourne tennis club received a battered parcel on Friday with an order from the mid-1970s.

The parcel, containing sew-on patches of the club's crest, is believed to have fallen behind machinery in a sorting center at Australia Post - the state-owned mail service - only to be discovered recently when the company moved to another facility.
