The China-Malaysia joint drill is not targeted at any third party and has nothing to do with the regional situation, said People's Liberation Army Lieutenant General Yi Xiaoguang on Friday.
The drill, the first ever joint live-troop exercise between the two countries, codenamed "Peace and Friendship 2015", is the largest joint drill China has had with an Association of Southeast Asian Nations country. It began on Friday and will end on Tuesday.
The focus of the maneuvers lies on joint execution of non-combat operations, including joint maritime escorts, combined search and rescue of hijacked ships, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, as well as a gunnery exercise.
