China Daily | Updated: 2015-09-18 07:40

Item from China Daily on Sept 18, 1994: A fruit vendor in Tianjin displays litchi shipped from southern China. Various kinds of fruit are arriving in major cities in northern China as the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays draw near. The festive air is thick as sales ranging from food to clothes pop up across the cities.

Litchi, like many other fruits from the south of the country, has been widely available in major cities in North China for many years.

In fact, the rapid development of distribution networks and delivery services has made it easier for consumers across the country to enjoy a rich array of food products, as long as they are in season.
