Serena's absence no problem for Pennetta

Even Flavia Pennetta was a tiny bit disappointed Serena Williams didn't complete the first calendar grand slam since 1988 at the US Open.
"Of course," the Italian said, hours after she won her first major title in her final chance before retiring.
Still, Pennetta was thrilled for childhood friend Roberta Vinci, who upset Williams in Friday's semifinals, paving the way for the Open's first all-Italy final.
