Art must put focus on core values

The leadership of the Communist Party of China has pinpointed the role of socialist art and literature in promoting Chinese values.

"The prosperity of Chinese culture and art is necessary for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," said a statement released after a meeting of the CPC Central Committee's Political Bureau on Friday.

"Carrying forward the Chinese spirit, spreading Chinese values and unifying Chinese power are the sacred duties of art workers," said the statement.
