What they say

New normal means a lot of things. As a foreigner who has visited China many times, the first thing that struck me is the lesser number of cranes now, than a decade ago. That means construction is progressing at a more normal pace. Income levels have also gone up. Ten years ago everybody wanted a car or apartment, but today the focus has changed. A lot of people in the country are concerned about the environment. Energy efficiency and green growth will definitely be an important growth driver.

JORGEN M. CLAUSEN, chairman of the board, Danfoss Group, the Denmark-based producer of components and solutions

What they say

It is the right time for China to start talking about innovation, because there are so many. China is different from the rest of the world in that it is a big market and has a much larger user base. Whatever is happening in China's financial services and financial technology industries is of great importance to global firms. It is the same for its Internet companies.

JACOB HSU, chief executive officer of Symbio, the US-based global research and development technology company

What they say

China's "new normal" status, in fact, will bring foreign enterprises new opportunities in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, services and consumer markets that are critical to the ongoing structural economic transformation. Lots of deep thinking is happening on how to explore the new emerging opportunities. On the outbound side, there will be more Chinese enterprises, especially private companies, investing in more fields in different countries to bring in the technologies and brands to fulfill the transformation. And an increasing number of these companies would prefer to join hands with local partners to expand in overseas markets.

HONSON TO, chairman of KPMG China, a unit of global consultancy firm KPMG

What they say

Governing the Internet is important. We should govern the Internet like a zoo, not a farm of the same kind of animals. We should not leave the job only to the government. We should have multi-stake holders. Government, businesses and all kinds of organizations should join together. In the Internet era, we should have an E-WTO, agreed by business people, supported by the government. And that would probably do better.

JACK MA, chairman of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd
