Culture: Traditional paper from mulberry bark

Papermaking using mulberry tree bark is a traditional handicraft of the Uygur ethnic group in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Only a few families still produce the handmade paper, which involves nine time-consuming steps. The handicraft was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.
