Volkswagen Import showcases 16 models at 2015 Chengdu Motor Show

Volkswagen Import has presented 16 vehicle models to the ongoing Chengdu Motor Show, with the lineup led by Volkswagen's first plug-in hybrid - the all new Golf GTE.

In addition to the unveiling of the all new Golf GTE, Volkswagen Import has invited Taiwanese celebrity race car driver Roy Chiu to explain the details that make the all new GTE so special.

Managing Director of Volkswagen Import Till Scheer, said: "From January to July this year, total sales of new-energy vehicles in China grew by a factor of 2.6 compared to the same period in 2014. This clearly shows that China is witnessing a trend toward increased environmental awareness."

"The all new Golf GTE will be a high-performance yet eco-friendly product available to Chinese consumers," Scheer said. "We will have more new-energy models providing more green travel choices for Chinese consumers by the end of 2016."

Prioritizing environment

The all new Golf GTE comes from a Gran-Turismo based family of high-performance vehicles. Its MQB lightweight modular platform and powerful plug-in hybrid drive make it a true industry leader.

Volkswagen's Golf GTE features a 1.4 TSI petrol engine and a powerful electric motor, together producing a maximum power output of 204 hp and an incredible 350 Nm of torque.

In GTE mode, the Golf GTE accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in only 7.6 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of up to 202 km/h. In E-MODE, the GTE can run on 100 percent electric for up to 50 kilometers and has a top speed of 130 km/h.

With ultra-low carbon dioxide emissions of 38 grams per kilometer and strong acceleration, the all new Golf GTE brings together high performance and low fuel consumption. Not surprisingly, it has quickly become one of Europe's most sought-after green sports cars.

The Golf GTE is also equipped with Car-Net as well as second-generation MIB display, a 6.5-inch capacitive touch screen with multi-touch features, including two-finger resizing and slipping control.

Car-Net allows for remote activation of certain vehicle features, such as locking and unlocking doors as well as vehicle health status monitoring. It also provides a 24-hour customer service center for emergency assistance, repair scheduling as well as other services.

Moreover, the App Connect mobile application can link users' smartphone screens to the vehicle's on-board touchscreen entertainment system. It is compatible with Apple's iPhone as well as most other smartphone devices.

Full lineup

Volkswagen Import has brought a full lineup of its most exciting vehicles to Chengdu. Its flagship 2015 MY Phaeton, the Beetle, the Scirocco coupe, the Golf and Magotan variants, the Touareg, the Tiguan, the up! and Multivan models.

The 2015 MY Phaeton embodies the essence of the craftsmanship that Dresden has been known for o+ver the last 500 years.

The two-door coupe Scirocco embodies what Volkswagen Import believes the younger generation wants in a youthful coupe.

The Scirocco features aggressive body lines and its sportiness is also reflected in its interior design. With fully independent suspension and high-performance TSI engines, the Scirocco has come to be known as "the most dynamic Volkswagen ever".

The Golf Variant features Volkswagen's new revolutionary MQB modular platform. Despite a weight-loss of 105 kg, the MQB platform still permits the Golf Variant to have a trunk space 100 liters larger than its predecessor. Now with a maximum 1,620 liters of luggage space, it can satisfy all users' needs.

The same features can be found in the Magotan Variant. Its interior detailing as well as 2.0TSI engine makes the high-quality family car of choice for travel.

The Touareg has a luxurious yet tough appearance - exquisite walnut wood with piano paint, advanced automatic four-partition air conditioning, full range 4MOTION with a maximum climbing angle 45 degrees and wading depth of 580 mm.

All these features indicate that the Touareg exudes off-road confidence together with its inner quality and style.

The Tiguan is the benchmark for German compact SUVs, which is equipped with 4MOTION and a standard wheelbase loyal to the original. It also has a 28 degree approach angle, large class-leading chassis structure and suspension tuning.

The Tiguan comes standard with a 2.0 TSI engine and features handling that will meet the needs of the most demanding drivers.
