Beijing Hyundai Tucson
Sino-South Korean joint venture Beijing Hyundai launched its all-new SUV model with sportier exterior styling, more fuel-efficient powertrains and additional safety features on Saturday at the Chengdu Motor Show.
The locally produced Tucson applies the Hyundai Fluid Sculpture 2.0 design concept. The automatically adjusted LED headlights, taillights and daytime running lights are impressive and its panoramic moon roof may help drivers and passengers relax during a trip.
The SUV is 4,475 mm long and 1,850 mm wide with a 2,670 mm wheelbase and ground clearance of 182 mm. It has a luggage trunk that can hold 488 liters, and can be further expanded when the back seats are laid down.
The new model has two powertrains options - a 2-liter naturally aspired engine with 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The 1.6T DCT has a maximum output of 130 kW and peak torque of 265 Nm, and consumes 6.9 to 7.2 liters of fuel every 100 Km.
The company offers eight variants, and the top two 1.6T DCT variants are equipped with the 4-Wheel-Drive mode with cross-axle differential lock. The driver can switch the drive mode to go off-road.
Fifty-one percent of the car body is forged with super high-tensile steel, and its safety features include a tire pressure monitoring system, six airbags, rearview camera, blind spot detection, lane departure warning system and smart parking assistant.
