Culture: Preserving the ancient city of Kashgar

Kashgar, a city in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, was a major hub on the ancient Silk Road and a pivotal trading post where Eastern civilization met Western culture. Known as Kashi in Chinese, the city in Xinjiang's southwest has a recorded history of more than two millennia. The old section of Kashgar is well preserved and discreetly renovated to improve living conditions.
