Arrest may provide key clues to shrine bombing

By Agencies in Bangkok | China Daily | Updated: 2015-08-31 07:48

Thai authorities have arrested a foreign man they said had been holed up in a suburban apartment with bomb-making equipment and stacks of passports.

The arrest is the first possible breakthrough following the deadly bombing at a Bangkok shrine nearly two weeks ago.

Police and soldiers raided the apartment on Saturday in a nondescript concrete building on the outskirts of eastern Bangkok. They found bomb-making materials that matched those used in the Aug 17 blast at the Erawan Shrine in central Bangkok, police said.
