In the wake of widespread floods in the country this year, the government is set to speed up large-scale flood-control projects in the Taihu Lake areas and along the Huaihe River ... The projects are expected to be completed within the next five years at an estimated cost of 5 billion yuan.

Faced with the growing risk of storms and floods forecast by climate change specialists, the country has been improving its capacity to prevent and control the damage from inclement weather in the past few years.
