Driving for those outside the vehicle

Yesterday, my colleague James Healy's column dwelt on Beijing drivers adjusting to a relatively new car culture.
I agree with Mr Healy that many Chinese motorists have not yet achieved "man-and-machine harmony", in which the cars become extensions of their drivers and parking on the streets becomes much less of a hassle.
But there should also be "man-and-man harmony" - with the second man referring to people outside the vehicles.
