Videographic: China's virtual reality market at a glance

Virtual reality, or VR, also known as "computer-simulated life", appeared in science fiction as early as the 1950s. It was also developed for medical use, flight simulation and military training in the 1990s. Last year, it came under the spotlight with the launch of US virtual reality technology company Oculus VR's Rift headset, touted as the first truly immersive VR headgear to be used with video games.
