The Ministry of Railways said it will complete construction of 5,000 kilometers of electric rail between 1991 and 1995. The undertaking accounts for 70 percent of the nation's total railway building commitment during the period.

Operational rail lines nationwide are expected to stretch to 120,000 kilometers by the end of this year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.
