Hoopla over mayor's game unnecessary

China Daily | Updated: 2015-08-21 07:39

IN A RECENT basketball match, the mayor of Fuzhou, Fujian province, barely met with any defense from the opposing team and easily scored repeatedly, which has inevitably invited netizen's doubts and criticism. Comments:

It might be inconsiderate to ask other players to do their best in the basketball match when they are fully aware of the mayor's presence on the court. Perhaps the mayor never thought his love for the sport would end up just the opposite of what he expected. It is a timely reminder for all officials who hope to enjoy some quality time with the public that they must first ease the anxiety of the public by letting them forget their official identity.
