Pyongyang retaliates with its loudspeakers

The two neighbors on the Korean Peninsula have resumed cross-border propaganda warfare. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Monday matched the loudspeaker campaign of the Republic of Korea with broadcasts of its own that reportedly included criticism of Seoul and praise for Pyongyang.
The mutual propaganda attacks mark a further deterioration of relations between the neighbors, who have not engaged in any serious talks in recent months.
Last week, the ROK blamed the DPRK for landmine explosions that maimed two ROK soldiers, resuming propaganda broadcasts for the first time in 11 years in retaliation. Pyongyang has denied the accusations and threatened to launch strikes on the ROK loudspeakers.
