Supreme leader: Fate of nuclear deal still unclear

By Agencies in Teheran and Moscow | China Daily | Updated: 2015-08-19 07:46

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday the fate of a historic nuclear deal with world powers is still unclear as lawmakers in both Iran and the United States review it.

The comments by Khamenei, the nation's top leader, suggest he supports allowing Iran's Parliament to review and vote on the deal. However, the remarks carried on his official website still offered no clue on whether he supported the accord.

Referring to the US, Khamenei said, "In their understanding of the deal, whose fate is unclear since it is not clear if it will be approved here or there, their intention was to find a way to penetrate into the country."
