Today, more than 70,000 farmers' markets in Chinese cities are supplying 200 million residents with more than 70 percent of their daily vegetables and half of their non-staple food ... The total business volume of the markets was 38.58 billion yuan in 1983, and reached more than 162 billion last year.

More Chinese consumers are riding the digital wave and buying their fruit, vegetable and meat supplies online.
