Mary Kay fund worth 32m yuan
Mary Kay, the global cosmetics company headquartered in the United States, plans to put a further 3.4 million yuan ($547,400) this year into its charity fund to help Chinese women realize their entrepreneurial dreams, according to Paul Mak, president of Mary Kay China. The contribution should bring the total Mary Kay Women Business Start-up Fund to 32.34 million yuan by the end of this year. It has helped more than 70,000 women start their own businesses by providing small interest-free loans over the past 15 years. The fund was set up in 2001 jointly with China Women's Development Foundation. This year Mak said it would focus its attention on providing loans to female entrepreneurs in Xinjiang Uygur, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui autonomous regions, Guizhou, Fujian and Shanxi provinces and Beijing.
