Gu gets suspended death sentence
China's top military court sentenced former senior military official Gu Junshan to death with a two-year reprieve on Monday after finding him guilty of charges that include embezzlement, accepting bribes and abuse of power.
Gu, the former deputy chief of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army, was convicted of crimes that include embezzlement, accepting bribes, misuse of State funds, bribery and abuse of power, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing a statement from the Military Court of the People's Liberation Army.
Gu has also been deprived of his political rights for life and had all his personal assets confiscated. He was also stripped of his rank, lieutenant general, and all other illicit funds and materials involved will also be confiscated.
