Determined Reds stick it to Stoke

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes the determination shown by his players in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Stoke City will serve them well for the rest of the season.

The Reds were thrashed 6-1 at Britannia Stadium in last season's final Premier League match, but on the same ground for the opener of the new campaign - just 77 days later - battled to a narrow victory.

It was secured courtesy of a late long-range strike from midfield playmaker Philippe Coutinho on the back of a disciplined defensive display by the visitors.
