Search called off for missing Russian freediving legend

One of the world's greatest free-divers, Russia's Natalia Molchanova, is feared dead after disappearing during a dive off Spain's Balearic Islands, officials said on Wednesday.

Molchanova, 53, went missing off the island of Formentera on Sunday and Spain's police and maritime rescue agency said on Tuesday they had called off the search for her.

Freedivers compete without scuba equipment, sometimes to great depths, relying on their ability to hold their breath.
