Seniors create little corner of China in Connecticut

By Jiang Hezi in New Haven, Connecticut | China Daily | Updated: 2015-08-06 07:39

A community of Chinese people living on the northern edge of Yale University has created a little corner of home in Connecticut with gardens, shared cooking and meals, market trips and chats under the shade of trees.

"We are too old to integrate into US society." said Zhang Zaixian, 63. "So we just live our own simple life."

Zhang and her husband have lived in New Haven for the past six months to look after their 3-year-old grandson while their daughter does postdoctoral research at the university.
