Hawk grounded on drug charges

China Daily | Updated: 2015-08-01 07:28

Atlanta Hawks forward Mike Scott has been arrested on drug charges.

The Banks County sheriff's office said deputies attempted to stop an SUV driven by Scott's 20-year-old brother for following too closely on Interstate 85 northeast of Atlanta on Thursday.

The sheriff's news release said the vehicle, in which Scott was a passenger, failed to yield for about two miles, with speeds reaching 98 mph, before it finally pulled over. Deputies said they found more than an ounce of marijuana and 10.9 grams of MDNA, commonly called Molly.

Police say Scott is charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a schedule 1 drug. His brother faces additional charges.

The Hawks said they are aware of the situation but had no further comment.

Scott, 27, averaged 7.8 points a game last season.
