Ambassador says China 'will not leave' nation despite deadly attack

China will not withdraw its diplomatic staff from Somalia despite Sunday's embassy attack, the ambassador to the East African country said on Thursday.

The staff, which is seeking a new temporary office, will not be frightened off, Ambassador Wei Hongtian told China Daily.

"China will, as always, continue to support the peace process of Somalia and reconstruction after the war," Wei said. "We will not leave Somalia."
