Item from July 28, 1992, in China Daily: Fu Mingxia, 13, became the country's youngest Olympic gold medalist yesterday when she won the women's 10-meter platform event at the 25th Olympic Games in Barcelona.
Her win gave China its second gold medal at the 1992 Olympics - the first came in the women's swimming, when world 50-meter freestyle champion Zhuang Yong won the 100-meter freestyle, beating world record holder Jenny Thompson of the United States.
China continues to record remarkable achievements in the international aquatic sporting arena.
