Obama criticized for promoting gay rights

By Xinhua in Nairobi, Kenya | China Daily | Updated: 2015-07-27 07:44

US President Barack Obama delivered a firm message on gay rights during his landmark visit to Kenya on Saturday, where homosexuality is outlawed.

His comments triggered strong criticism for apparently imposing his values on the African continent.

Obama arrived on Friday in Kenya, his father's birthplace, starting his first visit to the East African nation in the seven years since he was elected president. Kenya considers him a local son.
