As of Saturday, Chinese animated film Monkey King: Hero Is Back had raked in 620 million yuan ($99.8 million) since its release on July 10, surpassing the record set by Kung Fu Panda 2 in 2011.
"This film reshapes the image of the Monkey King. It sets a good example for modernizing traditional Chinese culture."
